Job Title: LPN Correctional

Location: Rome, NY
Duration: 26–52 Weeks
Schedule: 36 Hours per Week
Shift: Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-Hour Shifts)

Compensation

  • Traveler Pay: $44–$48/hr (Based on Experience)
  • Local Pay: $30–$33/hr (Based on Experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide healthcare services within a correctional healthcare environment. The LPN will work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and healthcare providers to deliver patient care, administer medications, conduct health screenings, and respond to medical emergencies while maintaining compliance with healthcare and security regulations.

This position requires strong clinical skills, professionalism, and the ability to provide quality care within a secure setting.

Responsibilities

Medication Administration

  • Administer prescribed medications, including controlled substances, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Monitor patient compliance with medication regimens and document administration accurately.
  • Observe and report medication reactions or concerns to appropriate medical staff.

Clinical Care

  • Obtain and record vital signs and patient health information.
  • Perform nursing assessments and assist with ongoing patient monitoring.
  • Provide wound care, dressing changes, and other basic nursing treatments.
  • Conduct health screenings and assist with chronic disease management initiatives.

Emergency Response

  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies within the facility.
  • Provide immediate nursing interventions and assist healthcare providers during emergency situations.
  • Follow established emergency response protocols and procedures.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records.
  • Document assessments, treatments, medications, and patient responses.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, nursing standards, and facility policies.

Safety & Security

  • Adhere to all security procedures and correctional healthcare protocols.
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings while providing patient care.
  • Work collaboratively with security and healthcare personnel to promote a safe environment.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.

Licensure & Certification

  • Current and active New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required.
  • Limited Permit holders may be considered where applicable.
  • Current BLS certification preferred.

Experience

  • Previous experience in Medical-Surgical, Ambulatory Care, Mental Health, Correctional Healthcare, or related clinical settings preferred.
