Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – Neurobehavioral Rehabilitation Unit

Location: Newark, NY
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for a Neurobehavioral Rehabilitation Unit specializing in the care of residents with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, Parkinson's disease, and other cognitive disorders accompanied by behavioral disturbances. This unit focuses on stabilizing residents with unpredictable verbal and/or physical aggression and preparing them for successful discharge to the least restrictive environment possible.

  • Beds: 20 (Private Rooms)
  • Adult and Geriatric Population
  • Structured, secure behavioral health environment

Schedule & Coverage

  • Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
  • Floating: Required based on facility needs
  • First-Time Travelers Accepted: Yes
  • Local Candidates Accepted

Staffing Ratios

  • Days: 1 CNA : 5 Residents
  • Nights: 1 CNA : 10 Residents
  • Weekends: 1 CNA : 7 Residents

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of CNA experience
  • Active CNA certification (as required by state regulations)
  • BLS Certification
  • Long-Term Care (LTC) experience preferred
  • Experience working with dementia and behavioral health populations is highly desirable

  • Wheelchair assistance
  • Turning and repositioning

Patient Monitoring

  • Vital signs collection
  • Pulse oximetry
  • Weight measurement and documentation
  • Intake and output monitoring
  • Reporting changes in patient condition

Clinical Support

  • Catheter care
  • Fluid restriction monitoring
  • NPO patient care
  • Passive range-of-motion exercises
  • Isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Equipment cleaning and maintenance
