Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – Blood Bank
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Position Overview:
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to support a high-volume Blood Bank laboratory. The selected candidate will perform routine and specialized compatibility testing, blood component preparation, and transfusion support services for both pediatric and adult patient populations.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform blood bank testing and transfusion services
Conduct ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening, and antibody identification
Perform antibody typing using tube methods
Complete immediate spin, IgG, and electronic crossmatches
Perform indirect Coombs testing
Process and analyze laboratory specimens accurately and efficiently
Prepare blood products for transfusion
Maintain laboratory quality standards and documentation
Ensure compliance with laboratory policies, procedures, and safety regulations
Support high-volume testing operations while maintaining accuracy and turnaround times
Required Qualifications:
ASCP Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Certification or ASCP Blood Bank (BB) Certification
Strong Blood Bank experience
Experience with specimen processing
Knowledge of ABO/Rh testing, antibody screening, and compatibility testing
Ability to work independently, particularly on night shifts
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
Alternative Qualifications:
ASCP Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Certification
ASCP Blood Bank (BB) Certification
Blood Bank experience in a large healthcare facility
Preferred Experience:
Experience in a high-volume Blood Bank laboratory
Experience supporting specialized transfusion services
Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment:
High-volume Blood Bank laboratory
Supports both adult and pediatric transfusion services
Approximately 15,000 samples processed
Specialized compatibility and transfusion testing environment
