Job Title: Medical Assistant – Contract
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8-hour shifts between 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Hours: 37.5 per week
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff in a fast-paced hospital/clinic environment. The role includes direct patient care, clinical support tasks, and administrative responsibilities within an EMR-driven system.
Perform patient care tasks including venipuncture, EKGs, vital signs, and specimen collection
Assist physicians with examinations and minor procedures
Prepare patients for exams, including room setup and patient positioning
Support patient flow, scheduling, and front desk coordination
Maintain and update electronic medical records (EMR)
Enter orders, refill requests, and insurance updates in system
Collect, label, and process lab samples and point-of-care tests
Maintain inventory and restock clinical supplies
Ensure infection control and sterilization procedures are followed
Manage medical records, reports, and documentation filing
Schedule appointments, procedures, and coordinate with surgical teams
Perform insurance verification and pre-certification when needed
Maintain compliance with HIPAA and hospital safety standards
Perform additional duties as assigned
High School Diploma or GED required
Completion of Medical Assistant certification program required
BLS certification (AHA) required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
Knowledge of EMR systems, medical terminology, and HIPAA preferred
Hospital/clinical outpatient setting
May include light physical activity and patient handling
Exposure to routine clinical and administrative workflows
