Job Title: Medical Assistant – Contract

Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8-hour shifts between 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Hours: 37.5 per week


Job Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff in a fast-paced hospital/clinic environment. The role includes direct patient care, clinical support tasks, and administrative responsibilities within an EMR-driven system.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform patient care tasks including venipuncture, EKGs, vital signs, and specimen collection

  • Assist physicians with examinations and minor procedures

  • Prepare patients for exams, including room setup and patient positioning

  • Support patient flow, scheduling, and front desk coordination

  • Maintain and update electronic medical records (EMR)

  • Enter orders, refill requests, and insurance updates in system

  • Collect, label, and process lab samples and point-of-care tests

  • Maintain inventory and restock clinical supplies

  • Ensure infection control and sterilization procedures are followed

  • Manage medical records, reports, and documentation filing

  • Schedule appointments, procedures, and coordinate with surgical teams

  • Perform insurance verification and pre-certification when needed

  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and hospital safety standards

  • Perform additional duties as assigned


Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Completion of Medical Assistant certification program required

  • BLS certification (AHA) required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment

  • Knowledge of EMR systems, medical terminology, and HIPAA preferred


Work Environment

  • Hospital/clinical outpatient setting

  • May include light physical activity and patient handling

  • Exposure to routine clinical and administrative workflows
