Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (ED)

Location: Utica, NY

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse for a high-acuity emergency care setting. The ideal candidate will have strong ED experience, pediatric exposure, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment caring for patients across all age groups.

Candidates with prior charge nurse experience are highly preferred.

Schedule

• Shift: 8:30 AM – 9:00 PM
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Floating required as needed

Emergency Department Overview

• Total Beds: 64
  • 2 Triage Beds
  • 40 Acute Care Beds
  • 6 Super Track Beds
  • 2 Trauma Beds
  • 10 CDU Beds
  • 6 Psychiatric Beds

Patient Population

• Newborns
• Pediatrics
• Adults
• Geriatrics

Common Diagnoses

• Stroke
• Sepsis
• Trauma
• Myocardial Infarction (MI)
• Cardiac Arrest
• Respiratory Failure

Specialty Equipment

• Rapid Infusor
• Arctic Sun

Key Responsibilities

• Provide emergency nursing care to patients with acute and critical conditions
• Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize care based on acuity
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and emergency treatments
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary emergency care teams
• Utilize critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills during emergency situations
• Document patient care accurately within Epic EMR
• Float to other units as required based on staffing needs

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
• Pediatric ED experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Charge nurse capability highly preferred
• Epic EMR experience required

Certifications & Licensure

• Active New York RN license required
• Current AHA ACLS certification required
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• Current PALS certification required
• Current NIHSS certification required
• TNCC certification required at time of submission
• NURSYS verification required for all active RN licenses
