Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical Stroke Stepdown

Location: Utica, NY

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse with Stroke Stepdown experience for a fast-paced acute care unit. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, prior travel experience, and the ability to manage a diverse adult patient population with complex medical conditions.

This role requires flexibility, strong assessment skills, and experience working in a high-acuity Med/Surg environment utilizing Epic EMR.

Unit Details

• Specialty: MS Stroke Stepdown
• Patient Population: Adult patients
• Number of Beds: 64

Common Diagnoses

• Stroke
• Altered Mental Status
• Renal conditions and Dialysis patients
• COPD
• CHF
• Pneumonia
• Pulmonary conditions
• Isolation patients
• General Medical/Surgical cases

Specialty Equipment

• IV Pumps
• NG Tubes
• Feeding Tubes

Schedule

• Day Shift: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
• Floating required
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical RN experience required
• Stroke Stepdown experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Experience with Epic EMR required

Certifications & Licensure

• Current AHA BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required (may be obtained prior to start)
• Active New York RN license required
• NURSYS verification required for all active RN licenses
