Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: 3x12s
Guaranteed Hours: 34.5 hours/week

Compensation

  • Local Pay: Up to $2,300/week
  • Traveler Pay: Up to $2,900/week

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Step Down / Medical Surgical Step Down unit. This role focuses on caring for patients transitioning from intensive care to a lower level of monitoring while still requiring close observation and advanced clinical support.

The ideal candidate will have strong critical care experience, excellent assessment skills, and the ability to respond effectively in high-acuity situations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide care for patients transitioning from ICU to step-down level care
  • Monitor patients using cardiac monitors, ventilators, tracheostomies, feeding tubes, and catheters
  • Perform frequent and thorough patient assessments
  • Identify and escalate changes in patient condition promptly
  • Respond to rapid response and cardiac arrest situations
  • Deliver safe, high-quality care to adult and geriatric patient populations
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to clinical protocols
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical Step Down experience OR ICU experience
  • At least 2 years of experience with IV insertion and phlebotomy
  • Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience
  • Strong critical thinking, assessment, and patient monitoring skills

Certifications & Licensure

  • Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification

Education

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent from an accredited nursing program
