Location: United States (100% Remote)
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift (Monday–Friday)
Hours: 8 hours per day


Job Summary

A healthcare organization is seeking a detail-oriented Authorization Specialist to support revenue cycle and patient access operations. This role is responsible for managing prior authorizations, verifying insurance coverage, collecting patient information, and ensuring effective communication between clinical teams, physicians, insurance providers, and administrative staff. The position plays a key role in ensuring a smooth and positive patient experience.

This is a remote-friendly position with a structured weekday schedule.


Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate prior authorizations via fax or third-party platforms
  • Follow up with insurance companies to ensure timely approval of requests
  • Submit required clinical or administrative documentation for authorization processing
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits
  • Accurately collect and enter patient and guarantor demographic and financial data
  • Adhere to organizational financial policies with integrity and sound judgment
  • Utilize registration systems, electronic verification tools, and web-based platforms efficiently
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of third-party payer requirements and reimbursement guidelines
  • Communicate professionally with patients, clinical staff, and administrative teams
  • Meet departmental standards for productivity, accuracy, quality, and customer service
  • Participate in departmental meetings and comply with applicable federal, state, and institutional regulations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or High School Diploma with at least 4 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum 2 years of healthcare experience in a physician practice, hospital, health plan, or surgery center administrative role
  • At least 1 year of direct experience obtaining prior authorizations from providers or insurance companies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, including CPT and diagnosis codes
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
