Job Title: Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery
Location: Santa Monica, CA
Duration: 13 Weeks (Contract)
Shift: Night Shift – 3x12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours: 36 Hours/Week

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced maternity setting. The RN will support patients throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and newborn.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients, including assessment, monitoring, and intervention
  • Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and maternal vital signs
  • Assist physicians and midwives during labor, delivery, and obstetric procedures
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and epidurals as prescribed
  • Support and educate patients and families throughout the childbirth process
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies, including rapid response and neonatal resuscitation
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal outcomes
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and hospital policies

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
  • Experience in high-acuity or fast-paced settings preferred

Certifications

  • Active RN license (State of California)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – AHA required
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
  • Fetal Monitoring Certification (preferred or required per facility)

Skills

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in fetal monitoring interpretation
  • Ability to manage obstetric emergencies effectively
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule
  • Weekend and holiday requirements as per department needs
  • Floating may be required based on unit needs
