Job Title: Registered Nurse – PCU / Stepdown

Location: Potsdam, NY
Duration: 13 Weeks Contract
Shift: Night Shift (06:45 PM – 07:15 AM)
Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown setting with mixed patient acuity, including PCU, MS Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical patients. The ideal candidate will have recent PCU/IMC experience and be comfortable managing a wide range of complex patient conditions in a dynamic hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care for PCU, telemetry, and medical-surgical patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias
• Administer medications, including cardiac and insulin drips
• Manage post-MI patients and complex medical conditions
• Perform central line care, IV therapy, and blood product administration
• Monitor respiratory status and support non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Document patient care accurately using EMR systems

Required Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 1 year of experience
• Recent PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience within the last 3 years (required)
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Strong skills in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and cardiac care

Preferred Qualifications:

• PALS and TCAR certifications
• Experience with mixed acuity units and diverse patient populations

Clinical Skills Required:

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Cardiac and insulin drip management (including titration)
• Central line, PICC line, and IV therapy
• Blood product administration and heparin protocols
• Respiratory support (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care)
• Wound care and post-surgical patient management
• Neurological conditions (CVA, seizures) and trauma care
