Job Title: Outpatient Medical Coder (Neurology / Neurosurgery)
Location: Remote (Georgia, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas only)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 08:00 AM – 05:00 PM

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a detail-oriented Outpatient Medical Coder to review clinical documentation and assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and modifier codes for billing, reporting, and compliance. This role plays a key part in ensuring coding accuracy, regulatory adherence, and optimal reimbursement. Candidates with experience in Neurology or Neurosurgery coding are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Coding & Documentation Review

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT procedure codes, and modifiers for outpatient encounters
• Review medical records and diagnostic results to extract relevant coding information
• Ensure compliance with official coding guidelines and reporting standards
• Apply APC methodologies to support accurate reimbursement

Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Adhere to coding policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
• Maintain ethical coding practices and high accuracy levels
• Identify documentation gaps and initiate provider queries for clarification
• Accurately abstract required data elements

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with physicians, clinical teams, and leadership
• Provide guidance on documentation improvement and coding accuracy
• Support and mentor junior coders as needed

Professional Development

• Maintain coding certifications and participate in ongoing education
• Contribute to team goals related to productivity, quality, and service

Required Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Associate Degree in Healthcare or related field (preferred)

Certifications (One Required)

• CCS, CPC, RHIT, CMC, or CCA

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of outpatient coding experience
• Strong experience with E/M coding
• Neurology or Neurosurgery coding experience (preferred)
• HCC coding experience (preferred)
• Experience with EMR systems (Epic preferred)

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT coding systems, and guidelines
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
• Strong communication and documentation review abilities
• Ability to query providers effectively
• Solid understanding of compliance and reimbursement processes
