Job Title: Senior Developer – Level II

Desired Location: India (Offshore)

Duration: Contract (7 Months)

Job Summary

The Senior Developer (Level II) will be responsible for executing data transformation, development, and migration tasks within a modern data ecosystem. This role focuses on hands-on development, SQL optimization, and continuous monitoring of data pipelines in a cloud-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

Data Development & Reporting

• Define and document technical requirements including tables, views, report design, and test cases.
• Develop and maintain complex SQL queries to support reporting and analytics.
• Build and optimize data structures used by visualization tools.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle including analysis, design, testing, and production support.

SQL & dbt Development

• Develop, maintain, and optimize data models using dbt.
• Conduct SQL design sessions and code reviews to ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
• Convert legacy database logic into scalable, modular models.

Cloud & Data Engineering

• Design and implement data pipelines and data lake integrations using:
  • Snowflake
  • Amazon Web Services (Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, Transfer tools)
  • Fivetran
• Support inbound and outbound data transfer solutions in a cloud-based data lake environment.

Testing & Documentation

• Perform unit testing and support user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Implement data validation checks such as row count and checksum comparisons.
• Maintain clear and consistent documentation for database models, standards, and processes.

Collaboration & Support

• Work closely with onshore teams and stakeholders.
• Provide production support and troubleshoot data issues.
• Train team members on development standards and processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Scope of Services

Development & Operations (Offshore Focus)

• Execute data transformation and migration from legacy systems to modern platforms.
• Rewrite legacy procedures and views into modular dbt models.
• Optimize SQL workloads for performance and cost efficiency.
• Monitor data pipelines to ensure accurate data ingestion into staging environments.
• Perform routine dbt runs (dbt run, dbt test) across development and QA environments.

Migration & Validation

• Validate data consistency between source and target systems.
• Ensure readiness for downstream testing and user acceptance phases.
• Maintain environment stability and code consistency across deployments.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in data development and transformation.
• Strong expertise in SQL and data modeling.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake and dbt.
• Experience with cloud-based data engineering solutions.
• Proficiency with:
  • Git
  • Visual Studio Code
• Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline orchestration.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with data migration from legacy systems (e.g., Oracle).
• Familiarity with reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
• Knowledge of performance optimization techniques in cloud data platforms.
