Title: Special Education Teacher
Location: Plainfield, NJ 
Duration: 16 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Full time (7:10-3:30)

Job Description:

Position Overview

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for delivering individualized instruction and support to middle school students with diverse learning needs. This role includes providing both push-in and pull-out services, ensuring students receive appropriate accommodations and achieve academic success in alignment with state standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students
  • Provide push-in and pull-out instructional services based on student needs
  • Adapt and modify curriculum in ELA and/or Math to support diverse learners
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and progress monitoring, maintaining accurate documentation
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure effective inclusion strategies
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and goals
  • Implement classroom and behavioral management strategies to support student success
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development
  • Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development sessions
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations
  • Maintain a structured, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

Required Qualifications

  • Valid New Jersey DOE Instructional License
  • Certification in Middle School Special Education (SPED)
  • Highly Qualified status in ELA and/or Math
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, instructional strategies, and interventions

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with middle school students
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction effectively
  • Experience with push-in/pull-out service models
