Position Title: Special Education Teacher - Middle School
Location: Plainfield, NJ
Job Type: Contract | Local or Travel
Shift: Day Shift (07:15 AM – 03:30 PM)
Duration: 16 weeks

Position Overview:

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking Special Education Teacher - Middle School for an exciting Travel or Local job in Plainfield, NJ.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and monitors Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Provides direct instruction tailored to students with disabilities across core subject areas
  • Assesses student performance and adjusts instructional strategies to meet individual learning needs
  • Collaborates with general education teachers, support staff, and related service providers to ensure student success
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress, services, and compliance requirements
  • Implements behavior intervention plans and supports positive student behavior
  • Communicates regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and educational needs
  • Creates an inclusive classroom environment that supports social, emotional, and academic development
  • Participates in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development activities
  • Ensures compliance with IDEA and other applicable special education laws and regulations

Qualifications:

  • Valid New Jersey Special Education teaching certification required (or eligibility)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Experience working with middle school students with diverse learning needs preferred
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
  • Effective classroom management and behavior intervention skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and use evidence-based teaching strategies
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
