Job Type: Contract (Travel/Local)
Duration: 14 Weeks

Schedule:

  • Shift: Day Shift
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday (5x8)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical and clinical operations by ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, sterilized, and maintained. This role is essential in maintaining infection control standards and ensuring patient safety in a fast-paced healthcare environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment using proper PPE and safety protocols
  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble complex surgical instruments
  • Assemble and package instrument trays and surgical sets according to guidelines
  • Operate sterilization equipment including autoclaves and washer disinfectors
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage
  • Maintain accurate sterilization records and instrument tracking logs
  • Document missing or damaged instruments in accordance with SOPs
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of instruments and supplies
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of sterilization equipment
  • Ensure compliance with infection control standards and ANSI/AAMI guidelines
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and support staff
  • Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST or CIS)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1+ year of sterile processing experience
  • Knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile processing protocols
  • Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs)
  • Experience operating sterilization equipment (autoclaves, washer disinfectors)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Ability to follow SOPs and detailed work instructions accurately
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
