Schedule:

  • Shift: Day Shift
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday (5x8)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical and clinical operations by ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, sterilized, and maintained. This role plays a critical part in infection prevention and patient safety within a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment using proper PPE and safety protocols
  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble complex surgical instruments
  • Assemble and package instrument trays according to established guidelines
  • Operate sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and washer disinfectors
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage
  • Maintain accurate sterilization records and instrument tracking logs
  • Document missing or damaged instruments in accordance with SOPs
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of instruments and supplies
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of sterilization equipment
  • Ensure compliance with infection control standards and ANSI/AAMI guidelines
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Communicate effectively with surgical teams and support staff
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST or CIS)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1+ year of sterile processing experience
  • Knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile processing workflows
  • Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs)
  • Experience operating sterilization equipment (autoclaves, washer disinfectors)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to follow SOPs and detailed work instructions accurately
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
