Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Long Beach, CA 90805
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (CTH)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (5x8)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical and clinical operations by ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained. This role is critical in maintaining patient safety and infection control standards within a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform decontamination, cleaning, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment
  • Disassemble and reassemble complex instrument sets according to manufacturer guidelines
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage
  • Assemble, package, and label instrument trays accurately
  • Operate sterilization equipment including washers, disinfectors, and autoclaves
  • Maintain accurate sterilization records and documentation
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of instruments and supplies
  • Identify and report missing or damaged instruments
  • Follow infection control protocols and safety standards at all times
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure workflow efficiency

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (e.g., CRCST, CIS)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1+ year of hands-on sterile processing experience
  • Knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile processing workflows
  • Familiarity with sterilization techniques (e.g., steam sterilization) and infection control practices
  • Understanding of ANSI/AAMI standards and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs)
  • Experience operating washer disinfectors, autoclaves, and related equipment
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
  • Ability to read and follow SOPs and detailed work instructions
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
