Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Clinician (LICSW) provides psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, and discharge planning services for patients in an Emergency Department setting. This role collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams to support safe, effective, and patient-centered care addressing both behavioral health and medical needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial assessments and crisis evaluations for patients and families in the ED
• Provide short-term counseling and crisis intervention services
• Assess mental health and substance use conditions and collaborate with psychiatrists/APRNs for treatment planning
• Support discharge planning and coordinate home care and community-based services
• Assist patients and families with coping and adjustment to illness and hospitalization
• Coordinate placement for inpatient psychiatric care, outpatient services, or long-term care facilities
• Act as a liaison between patients, families, and community resources/agencies
• Ensure care delivery aligns with patient-centered standards and organizational protocols

Qualifications

Licensure

• Active LICSW (Massachusetts) required

Experience

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in:
  • Behavioral Health
  • Emergency Department (ED) or crisis setting
• Experience working with patients and families in acute crisis situations
• Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, substance use, and crisis intervention practices
