Job Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a dedicated Special Education Assistant (Cross-Categorical) to support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs in both inclusive and specialized classroom settings. This role focuses on providing individualized academic and behavioral support to help students remain engaged, organized, and successful throughout the school day.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to students across academic subjects
  • Assist in implementing IEP accommodations, modifications, and behavior intervention strategies
  • Reinforce instructional material under the direction of teachers and specialists
  • Monitor student behavior, encourage positive conduct, and provide redirection as needed
  • Support classroom routines, transitions, arrival/dismissal, and small-group instruction
  • Maintain accurate observations and documentation of student progress when required
  • Promote social skills development and positive peer interactions
  • Ensure a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment aligned with school policies

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, preferably in a special education setting
  • Background as a paraprofessional, classroom assistant, ABA therapist, or similar role preferred
  • Ability to follow instructional guidance and implement behavior plans consistently
  • Strong communication skills with a patient and calm approach
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the full contract duration
  • Comfortable supporting students with academic and behavioral needs
  • Provisional license required
