Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a detail-oriented Outpatient Medical Coder with expertise in Neurology and/or Neurosurgery. This role is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and accurately assigning diagnosis and procedure codes to support billing, compliance, and reporting functions. The ideal candidate will ensure adherence to industry standards while maintaining high levels of accuracy and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes using:
  • ICD-10-CM
  • CPT-4
  • Applicable modifiers
• Review and analyze clinical documentation to:
  • Extract relevant patient and encounter data
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy
• Apply official coding guidelines and regulatory standards, including:
  • ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 guidelines
  • Organizational policies and compliance requirements
• Utilize knowledge of APC reimbursement methodologies and coding best practices
• Communicate effectively with providers, clinical staff, and leadership
• Query providers for clarification when documentation is incomplete or unclear
• Maintain adherence to ethical coding standards (AHIMA guidelines)
• Meet established productivity and quality benchmarks
• Support patient safety and organizational compliance standards
• Contribute to team development by mentoring and supporting peers
• Participate in ongoing education and professional development
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• One of the following certifications required:
  • CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
  • CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
  • RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)
  • CMC (Certified Medical Coder)
  • CCA (Certified Coding Associate)
• Minimum 2 years of outpatient E/M coding experience
• Strong knowledge of medical coding guidelines and compliance standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree in a medical-related field
• Experience in Neurology or Neurosurgery outpatient coding
• HCC coding experience (6+ months preferred)
• Experience with EPIC EHR systems
• Ability to code physician services within Neurology specialty
