Job Title: Agile Coach (Contract)

Location: Washington, DC
Duration: 7 Months


Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Agile Coach to support a large-scale Agile transformation program. This role focuses on improving team effectiveness, facilitating program-level planning, enhancing Agile maturity, and enabling delivery of cloud-based enterprise systems. The Agile Coach will work across multiple teams to drive collaboration, continuous improvement, and alignment with strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities:

Agile Coaching & Transformation:

  • Establish and coach Agile teams across multiple product development groups
  • Guide teams in adopting and improving Agile frameworks and best practices
  • Support transformation into DevOps-enabled teams with CI/CD and automation

Program & Planning Facilitation:

  • Facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning / Big Room Planning events
  • Lead Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Scrum of Scrums, and retrospectives
  • Support team alignment and cross-functional collaboration

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Collaborate with leadership to define strategic roadmaps and priorities
  • Align team objectives with business goals and program outcomes
  • Provide guidance on Agile scaling practices (SAFe framework)

Team Effectiveness & Continuous Improvement:

  • Assess Agile maturity and recommend improvements
  • Implement best practices to enhance delivery performance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across teams

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:

  • Engage with stakeholders across all organizational levels
  • Address Agile knowledge gaps and promote best practices
  • Provide regular updates on program health and team performance

Training & Knowledge Transfer:

  • Deliver Agile training sessions and workshops
  • Develop documentation and processes to support long-term adoption
  • Mentor team members and leaders on Agile principles

Reporting & Metrics:

  • Track and report team maturity, delivery metrics, and program health
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations for improvement

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Computer Science, or related field
  • 8+ years of IT experience (development, architecture, product, or QA)
  • 1+ year as a Program-Level Agile Coach supporting large programs or Agile Release Trains
  • 2+ years as a Team-Level Agile Coach
  • 3+ years in Agile roles (Scrum Master, Product Owner, or leadership)
  • Experience coaching Agile teams into DevOps practices (CI/CD, automation)
  • At least one certification:
    • CSM / ACSM / SAFe Scrum Master / PMI-ACP

Required Skills:

  • Experience with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) methodologies
  • Strong facilitation of PI Planning / Big Room Planning events
  • Experience with ServiceNow ITSM, Agile tools, and analytics platforms
  • Ability to coach teams on retrospectives and iterative improvement
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting cloud-based ERP systems
  • Experience with digital transformation initiatives
  • Strong background in Agile program strategy and roadmap development
