Position Summary

The Director of Emergency Services is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and performance of the Emergency Department. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while overseeing daily operations, staffing, budgeting, and strategic growth initiatives.

The Director will collaborate closely with nursing leadership and physician partners to drive operational excellence, improve patient outcomes, and support departmental expansion.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Quality Leadership

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards

  • Promote evidence-based clinical practices

  • Monitor patient safety, quality metrics, and performance indicators

  • Lead initiatives to improve patient throughput and experience

Operational Management

  • Oversee daily Emergency Department operations

  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation

  • Support workforce planning and productivity optimization

  • Ensure readiness for department growth and expansion

Financial Oversight

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets

  • Analyze financial performance and address variances

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies

People Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop clinical and support staff

  • Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and collaboration

  • Oversee performance management and succession planning

  • Partner with executive leadership and medical staff


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (or active plan to obtain)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred

  • Master’s Degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 1+ year of leadership experience required

  • 3+ years of leadership experience preferred

  • Recent Emergency Department leadership experience strongly preferred

  • Proven track record of measurable performance improvements

Licensure

  • Active RN license (or compact state eligibility) required
