Radiology – Interventional Radiology Technologist

Location: Hyannis, MA 02601
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 8-hour shifts, 40 hrs/week; start times 07:00–15:30 and 08:00–16:30. On-call rotation required for nights, weekends, and holidays. Lead apron use required.
Pay Rate: $74 – $78 per hour

Job Summary

The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist assists physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort while operating specialized imaging equipment.

Examples of Procedures

Endovascular / Peripheral Procedures:

  • Aortogram, LE, UE, Visceral

  • Carotid studies

  • AV fistula interventions

  • Embolization, IVC filter placement, lytics, dialysis, Quinton catheter, TIPS, PICC, biopsy

Non-Vascular Procedures:

  • Drain placement

  • G/J tube insertion

  • Kidney tubes

  • THC biliary procedures

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians in invasive procedures, including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, and recording hemodynamic parameters.

  • Operate interventional and imaging equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

  • Ensure patient safety and comfort; provide procedure explanations and answer questions.

  • Transfer patients onto equipment, stretchers, and wheelchairs as needed.

  • Set up and maintain sterile trays; clean and dispose of equipment after procedures.

  • Assist with contrast media administration and maintain departmental inventory.

  • Perform routine safety checks and preventative maintenance on interventional equipment.

  • Participate in professional development and training.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements

Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist II (RCIS)

  • Associate’s degree in Cardiovascular Technology or 3 years recent Cath Lab experience.

  • Current BLS, ACLS, IABP certification.

  • RCIS certification required.

Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist EP

  • 5 years recent EP experience, or any two certifications among CI, VI, RCIS.

  • Current BLS, ACLS, IABP certification.

Special Procedures Tech I

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Graduate of JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology program.

  • ARRT registration; Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist license.

  • Basic Arrhythmia certification, BLS, ACLS, IABP.

  • 2 years post-technical school radiology experience (or 6 months recent experience in special procedures).

Special Procedures Tech II & III

  • All Tech I qualifications.

  • Tech II: RCIS, CI, or VI certification, or 3 years recent Cath Lab/IR experience.

  • Tech III: 5 years recent Cardiovascular EP experience or any two certifications among CI, VI, RCIS; completion of EP training program.
