Assignment Details

  • Duration: 13 Weeks (Possibility of Extension)

  • Shift: Day Shift

  • Schedule: 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM

Compensation

  • Local Rate: $1,700 – $1,900 per week (based on experience)

  • Travel Rate: $2,200 – $2,400 per week (based on experience)

Position Summary

A healthcare facility in Manhattan, NY is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical for a contract assignment. The RN will provide high-quality bedside nursing care for patients recovering from medical conditions and surgical procedures in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience working in large acute care hospital settings.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team

  • Provide direct bedside nursing care for pre-operative and post-operative patients

  • Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications and treatments

  • Perform clinical procedures such as wound care, IV therapy, catheter insertion, and dressing changes

  • Monitor and record patient vital signs and clinical status, reporting adverse reactions promptly

  • Operate and monitor specialized medical equipment and interpret patient measurements

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate discharge planning and follow-up care

  • Educate patients and families about treatment plans, surgical procedures, and recovery care

  • Maintain accurate patient documentation, charts, and health records

  • Follow established clinical standards, nursing protocols, and safety guidelines

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience in a large acute care hospital

  • Most recent clinical experience within the past year

  • Strong skills in:

    • Physical assessment

    • Medication administration

    • Wound care and infection control

    • IV therapy

    • Post-operative patient care

    • Patient education

    • Telemetry monitoring

Preferred Skills

  • Experience using Epic Systems EMR

Education Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License – State of New York with Primary Source Verification

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association
