Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and some holidays
Hourly Rate: $60.99/hr
Estimated Weekly Gross Pay: $2,104
Weekly Stipend: $1,414
A healthcare facility in Syracuse, NY is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support a Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit. The LPN will provide nursing care to patients aged 5–17 years, assisting the healthcare team in delivering safe, compassionate, and effective psychiatric care.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in behavioral health or psychiatric settings and demonstrate strong communication skills while supporting patients and their families.
Provide direct patient care in an acute behavioral health setting
Monitor and record vital signs and patient progress
Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures
Prepare exam rooms and set up trays for injections and treatments
Greet patients and escort them to examination rooms
Maintain accurate patient documentation and chart preparation
Support scheduling, reception, and general office duties when needed
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
Coordinate with insurance providers to obtain authorizations for procedures and treatments
Contact primary care physicians to obtain referrals or referral extensions for patient care services
Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked clinical areas
Follow all patient safety, infection control, and facility protocols
Active New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License
Minimum 1 year of psychiatric or behavioral health experience
Experience working with children and adolescents preferred
Prior inpatient care experience preferred
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
CPR certification (or ability to obtain/renew)
Behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience
Experience working in child and adolescent mental health units
Familiarity with patient care coordination and clinical documentation systems
