Job Summary

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (MRI Tech) performs diagnostic MRI procedures to assist physicians in the evaluation and diagnosis of medical conditions. The technologist operates MRI equipment, ensures patient safety during imaging procedures, and produces high-quality diagnostic images.

This role requires expertise in MRI imaging protocols, contrast administration, and patient care across a wide range of age groups, from neonates to older adults.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and established imaging protocols.

  • Prepare patients for MRI procedures including screening, positioning, and safety verification.

  • Administer contrast media and start peripheral IV lines when required.

  • Operate MRI equipment to obtain high-quality images for diagnostic interpretation.

  • Monitor patients during procedures to ensure safety and comfort.

  • Follow MRI safety guidelines and infection control protocols, including isolation precautions.

  • Ensure proper documentation of procedures within the electronic medical record system.

  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to support diagnostic imaging services.

  • Maintain imaging equipment and ensure proper functionality prior to procedures.

  • Adhere to hospital safety standards and regulatory compliance.


Imaging Experience Required

  • Chest MRI

  • Abdomen and pelvis MRI

  • Brain and head MRI (with and without contrast)

  • Musculoskeletal trauma imaging

  • Spine imaging including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar regions


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of MRI Technologist experience.

  • ARRT (R) certification.

  • ARRT (MR) certification.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Active SCRQSA license (South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association).

  • Minimum 1 year of Epic electronic medical record experience.
