The Cardiovascular Operating Room Technician (CVOR Tech) assists the surgical team during cardiovascular procedures by preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile technique, and providing instruments and supplies required for complex cardiac surgeries. This role is critical in ensuring the efficiency and safety of surgical procedures within the cardiovascular operating room environment.
The CVOR Tech works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to support patient care during cardiac and vascular procedures.
Prepare and maintain the cardiovascular operating room and sterile field prior to surgical procedures.
Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and surgical supplies during cardiovascular procedures.
Maintain strict aseptic and sterile technique throughout surgical procedures.
Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse to ensure patient safety.
Prepare specialized equipment used during cardiac and vascular surgeries.
Assist with patient positioning, surgical draping, and specimen handling.
Ensure surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and functioning correctly.
Assist with operating room setup and post-procedure cleanup.
Follow hospital infection control policies, surgical safety standards, and PPE guidelines.
Collaborate with surgical staff to maintain an efficient workflow in the operating room.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technician, preferably in a cardiovascular operating room setting.
Knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures and sterile technique.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operating room environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
