A healthcare facility in Gainesville, FL is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Inpatient Surgical / Medical-Surgical Unit. The RN will provide high-quality, patient-centered care for post-surgical patients recovering from procedures such as abdominal, orthopedic, and general surgeries following discharge from the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
The role requires strong clinical skills to monitor patient recovery, administer treatments, and educate patients and families regarding post-operative care and discharge instructions.
Provide post-surgical nursing care for patients recovering overnight or longer.
Monitor vital signs and patient conditions, and respond appropriately to changes.
Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments as prescribed.
Perform wound care, pain management, and post-operative patient education.
Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Function independently while managing a 7:1 patient-to-nurse ratio.
Follow all hospital policies, patient safety protocols, and confidentiality standards.
Active Registered Nurse (RN) License – Florida
(or multistate RN license with ability to obtain Florida license within 60 days)
Minimum 1 year of recent Acute Care RN experience (within the last 2 years).
Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
NIH Stroke Scale Certification required within 30 days of start.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required within 30 days of start.
Must live within commutable distance (within 60 minutes) of the facility.
Must be available to work night shifts and rotating weekends.
