Title: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) – Labor & Delivery

Duration: 8 Weeks
Schedule: Night Shift – 5 x 7.5 Hour Shifts (11:00 PM – 7:15 AM)
Weekly Hours: 37.5 Hours
Compensation:
Gross Weekly Pay: $2,600 – $2,700 (Based on Experience)
Local Pay Rate: $55 – $60 per hour (Based on Experience)
The Certified Surgical Technician (CST) supports surgical teams within the Labor and Delivery unit by preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile environments, and assisting surgeons during procedures. The CST ensures that surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are properly prepared and available while maintaining strict adherence to sterile techniques and safety protocols.
This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Prepare and maintain sterile surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and surgical supplies.
Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques throughout surgical procedures.
Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse to ensure patient safety.
Assist with patient positioning, draping, specimen handling, and surgical dressing.
Support the circulating nurse with operating room preparation and equipment setup.
Assist with patient transport to and from the operating room when necessary.
Ensure surgical rooms are cleaned and prepared for subsequent procedures.
Follow all infection control, safety protocols, and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
Maintain effective communication with surgeons, nurses, and surgical team members.
Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification – Required.
Completion of an accredited Certified Surgical Technician training program – Required.
High School Diploma or equivalent – Required.
Labor & Delivery (L&D) or Operating Room (OR) experience – Required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
