Position Overview

A healthcare facility in Morristown, VT is seeking an experienced Staff Pharmacist to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate medication therapy for patients. The pharmacist will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff to optimize drug therapy and support patient care within a hospital setting.

Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Director, the Staff Pharmacist will oversee medication management, clinical pharmacy services, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and pharmacy practice standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and verify prescriptions and medication orders to ensure accuracy and appropriate dosing.

  • Dispense medications and provide guidance on proper usage and administration.

  • Monitor patients for drug interactions, allergies, and adverse reactions.

  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to optimize medication therapy.

  • Provide patient counseling regarding medications, dosage instructions, and potential side effects.

  • Maintain accurate pharmacy documentation and medication records.

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and safety standards.

  • Manage pharmaceutical inventory and ensure proper storage of medications.

  • Participate in clinical pharmacy activities, drug distribution, and medication management.

  • Support teaching, administrative responsibilities, and research activities when applicable.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Hospital pharmacy experience required (retail-only experience will not be considered).

  • Knowledge of unit dose systems, IV admixtures, and hospital pharmacy operations.

  • Strong technical and clinical pharmacy practice knowledge.

  • Proficiency with pharmacy computer systems and documentation.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities effectively.

  • Must comply with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and healthcare policies governing pharmacy practice.
