Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU Step-Down / Cardiac Vascular Recovery Unit
Location: Neptune, New Jersey
Duration: 13 Weeks (Typical Travel Contract)
Shift: Day Shift | 3x12-Hour (07:00 AM – 07:30 PM)
Hours: 36 Hours per Week
The Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU Step-Down provides specialized nursing care to patients recovering from cardiac, vascular, and surgical procedures in a step-down critical care environment. The RN is responsible for assessing patient conditions, implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient care. This role requires strong clinical judgment, telemetry monitoring experience, and the ability to manage complex patient conditions.
Assess patient health status and develop individualized nursing care plans.
Provide direct patient care to step-down ICU patients with cardiac and post-surgical conditions.
Monitor patient vital signs, neurological status, and cardiac telemetry.
Perform therapeutic nursing interventions based on physician orders and patient needs.
Manage patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Document patient care in accordance with clinical standards and hospital policies.
Support evidence-based nursing practices and quality patient care initiatives.
Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to coordinate treatment plans.
Advocate for patient safety and patient-centered care.
Float to other units within competency as required.
Unit Type: Cardiac Vascular & Post-Surgical Step-Down / Neuro ICU Step-Down
Patient Population: Post-cardiac surgery, post-surgical recovery, and neurologically monitored patients
Charting System: Epic
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey or Multi-State Compact License.
Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Medical-Surgical / Telemetry units in a major acute care hospital.
BLS (AHA) certification.
ACLS (AHA) certification.
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Telemetry competency.
CEU Stroke Education – 4 hours.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Experience with ventilator management.
Post-cardiac surgery experience.
Post-surgical recovery experience.
Neuro ICU or step-down experience.
Epic charting experience.
