Position Overview

A leading women's and children's hospital in the Houston area is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager RN – NICU to support leadership and clinical operations within a high-acuity Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This role oversees a 30-bed Level III/IV NICU and manages a team of approximately 20–35 FTEs across multiple shifts.

The Nurse Manager works closely with the Director of Women's Services to ensure exceptional patient care, support performance improvement initiatives, and maintain operational excellence within the NICU and related women's services departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Director with day-to-day department operations, ensuring alignment with organizational mission, vision, and clinical standards.

  • Coordinate and lead Performance Improvement (PI) initiatives to maintain high-quality patient care outcomes.

  • Ensure nursing care follows the established nursing process, providing clinical oversight and evaluating care effectiveness.

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within Women's Services, supporting ongoing NICU growth and expansion initiatives.

  • Provide staff leadership and supervision for a team of 20–35 FTEs across day, evening, and night shifts.

  • Manage staffing schedules, including evenings (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM), nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), weekends, and on-call rotation as required.

  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment focused on quality, safety, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License – Texas license or compact license required; Texas licensure must be obtained within 60 days if not already held.

  • AHA BLS Certification required.

  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience in an acute care setting (Level III or Level IV preferred).

  • Recent NICU leadership experience (within the past year) such as Charge Nurse or Nurse Manager.

  • At least 2 years of total leadership/management experience.
