Compensation

Base Pay: $30.04 – $41.50 per hour (based on experience)
Estimated Annual Salary: $62,483 – $86,320

Shift Differentials:

  • Night Shift Differential: + $4.00/hour

  • Weekend Differential: + $4.00/hour


Sign-On Bonus

  • $30,000 – Night Shift (2-year commitment)

  • $10,000 – Day Shift (2-year commitment)

This position is with a large acute care hospital (500+ beds) that is part of a major regional healthcare system serving the Kansas City metropolitan area and surrounding communities.

Position Summary

The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med-Surg RN) provides high-quality patient care to adult patients with a variety of medical, surgical, cardiac, and neurological conditions.

The Med-Surg unit serves a diverse patient population, offering nurses the opportunity to expand clinical skills and knowledge while working in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Typical Patient Population Includes:

  • General post-surgical patients

  • Urology patients

  • Vascular surgery patients

  • Stable trauma patients

This facility operates as a Level I Trauma Center, and patients may present with higher acuity compared to standard Med-Surg units.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments in accordance with clinical protocols and standards of care.

  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.

  • Provide direct nursing care and monitor patient progress.

  • Supervise and guide non-licensed nursing staff.

  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and post-care needs.

  • Provide emotional support and coordinate care throughout the treatment process.

  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of Acute Care RN experience

  • Acute care experience does not need to be recent

Licensure & Certification

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License

  • Missouri RN License or Compact License

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required upon hire
