Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Local / Travel Contract

Location: Falmouth, MA
Job Type: 12-Week Contract (Extendable)
Schedule: 8-hour shifts | 5 days per week
Shift: Evenings | 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and holiday

Weekly Gross Pay: $1,900 – $2,050 (Based on experience)


Position Overview

A long-term care healthcare facility in Massachusetts is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a local or travel contract assignment.

The LPN will be responsible for delivering direct nursing care to residents while supervising nursing assistants and ensuring compliance with facility policies, regulatory standards, and patient care protocols. This role requires strong clinical judgment, leadership skills, and the ability to provide compassionate care in a long-term care environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the day-to-day activities of nursing assistants in accordance with facility policies and regulatory guidelines.

  • Coordinate with nursing staff and support personnel to plan shift services, activities, and care programs.

  • Complete required documentation for resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.

  • Receive and document physician telephone orders and transcribe orders into resident charts, medication records, and care plans.

  • Maintain accurate nursing notes and documentation regarding resident care and responses to treatment.

  • Inform nursing staff of new admissions, arrival times, and room assignments.

  • Participate in facility inspections and surveys conducted by regulatory agencies.

  • Assist with orientation of new residents and family members.

  • Conduct physician rounds and consult with physicians regarding resident care, treatment, and rehabilitation needs.

  • Review resident charts for treatments, medication orders, and dietary plans.

  • Prepare and administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring proper resident identification.

  • Maintain adequate supplies of medications, equipment, and medical stock.

  • Provide clinical services including:

    • Catheterization

    • Tube feedings

    • Suctioning

    • Dressing changes

    • Colostomy care

    • Specimen collection

    • Range-of-motion exercises

  • Collect laboratory samples including urine, blood, and sputum, and perform routine lab tests.

  • Monitor and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.

  • Provide health education and support to residents and their families.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of resident information and comply with HIPAA and resident rights policies.

  • Perform other clinical and administrative duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program or possess a nursing degree from an accredited institution.

  • Active, unencumbered Massachusetts LPN license.

  • BLS / CPR and AED certification required.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with staff, residents, families, and healthcare providers.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required.

  • Must meet all physical and sensory requirements necessary for patient care duties.

  • Must maintain a safe working environment and not pose a risk to workplace safety.
