A large, not-for-profit regional medical center serving multiple counties across southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina is seeking an experienced RN Manager – Mother Baby.

This 600+ bed acute care hospital is a regional referral center known for providing advanced and specialized healthcare services, including:

  • Cardiovascular care

  • Oncology services

  • Trauma services

  • Pediatric care

  • High-risk obstetrics and neonatal care

The hospital campus includes:

  • Level I Trauma Center

Position Overview

The RN Manager – Mother Baby is responsible for the overall leadership, operational management, and clinical oversight of the Mother Baby unit.

This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care while maintaining efficient unit operations, staff engagement, and strong clinical outcomes.

Working closely with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams, the RN Manager will oversee staff development, performance management, quality improvement initiatives, and daily unit operations.

This position is ideal for a strong postpartum nursing leader who is passionate about maternal-newborn care, staff mentorship, and patient-centered healthcare delivery.


Unit Information

  • Unit Size: 22 Beds

  • Average Daily Census: Approximately 15 Patients

  • Total FTEs: 29.5

  • Reports To: Director of Women’s Services

Direct Reports:

  • Registered Nurses (RNs)

  • Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs)

  • Unit Secretaries


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

  • Oversee clinical operations of the Mother Baby unit

  • Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care

  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards

  • Monitor patient outcomes, safety initiatives, and quality metrics

Operational Management

  • Manage daily unit operations, staffing, and workflow

  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and resource allocation

  • Maintain efficient unit performance while supporting patient satisfaction initiatives

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop nursing and support staff

  • Conduct performance evaluations and coaching

  • Foster a positive work culture focused on teamwork, collaboration, and professional growth

  • Promote staff engagement and retention

Quality & Performance Improvement

  • Monitor clinical quality indicators and patient safety outcomes

  • Implement process improvement initiatives

  • Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices in postpartum care

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Partner with physicians, nursing leadership, and hospital departments

  • Support initiatives that improve maternal and newborn outcomes

  • Participate in hospital-wide leadership and quality programs


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) – Required

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration – Preferred

Licensure

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License

    • Georgia RN License OR

    • Compact / Multi-State RN License

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross

  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

    • Required within 60 months if not currently held


Experience Requirements

  • 3+ years of recent RN experience in Women’s Services within an acute care hospital

  • 1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience

  • Strong Mother/Baby or Postpartum clinical experience

  • Demonstrated team leadership and operational management skills
