We are seeking an experienced Director of Women’s Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for a high-acuity women’s health service line within a large acute care hospital in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
This leadership role provides 24/7 accountability for Women’s Services and is responsible for overseeing the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care delivery across maternal and neonatal departments. The Director will collaborate closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience in high-volume Women’s Services environments and a proven ability to manage clinical operations, staff development, and service line growth.
Annual Birth Volume: Approximately 3,500 births
High-acuity Women’s Services environment including:
Antepartum Unit
Labor & Delivery
Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Maternal Fetal Health Center
Provide 24/7 leadership and operational oversight for Women’s Services departments.
Ensure the delivery of safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care.
Maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and hospital quality standards.
Lead initiatives focused on patient safety, clinical outcomes, and patient satisfaction.
Manage departmental budgets, financial performance, and cost controls.
Optimize staffing models, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Align service line operations with organizational strategic goals.
Partner with physicians and clinical leaders to enhance patient outcomes.
Foster strong collaboration across clinical and administrative departments.
Support service line growth, program development, and strategic initiatives.
Lead and mentor nursing leadership teams and frontline staff.
Promote staff engagement, retention, and professional development.
Maintain a culture of accountability, teamwork, and clinical excellence.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact license
Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Minimum 5 years of recent leadership experience as a Manager or Director in Women’s Services within a large hospital setting
Experience in a high-acuity facility with approximately 3,500+ annual births
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Specialty certification related to Women’s Services or Maternal-Child Health
Experience leading Level III NICU programs
Proven success managing high-volume maternal-child service lines
