Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Great Falls, MT
Schedule: Full Time – All Shifts Available

Job Summary

The PCU RN provides comprehensive nursing care to medical and surgical patients, including those recovering from cardiovascular and high-acuity procedures. Nurses collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes from admission through discharge planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver skilled nursing care for progressive and advanced medical/surgical patients

  • Monitor and manage patients with central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, NG tubes, CBI, and multiple IV infusions

  • Provide care for patients requiring short-term noninvasive and invasive ventilatory support

  • Perform cardiac telemetry monitoring and basic EKG interpretation

  • Utilize advanced assessment skills to identify early signs of deterioration

  • Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate patient care plans

  • Provide discharge planning and patient/family education

  • Serve as a clinical leader and assist in precepting new staff

  • Delegate tasks appropriately to RN, LPN, CNA, and ancillary staff

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required

  • Recent experience in Progressive Care or Critical Care Nursing required

  • Experience in advanced Medical/Surgical settings required

  • Pediatric experience preferred

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current Montana RN License required

  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required (or must obtain within 6 months of hire)

  • EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency with advanced medical equipment including invasive monitoring lines and ventilatory support systems

  • Skilled in operating multiple IV pumps and telemetry systems

  • Strong clinical judgment and independent decision-making ability

  • Effective interdisciplinary communication and leadership skills
