Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Nurse Manager of Surgical Services to lead perioperative operations at a well-established acute care facility in Ocala, FL. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the clinical, operational, and financial performance of the Surgical Services department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.

The Nurse Manager will supervise nursing staff, coordinate surgical services, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while fostering a culture of teamwork, safety, and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for daily operations of the Surgical Services department (OR, Pre-Op, PACU, and related areas).

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing and support staff.

  • Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and productivity.

  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards.

  • Monitor quality metrics and implement performance improvement initiatives.

  • Oversee department budgeting, supply management, and cost control efforts.

  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

  • Promote patient safety and infection prevention protocols.

  • Support staff development, continuing education, and retention initiatives.

  • Participate in strategic planning and service line growth initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Florida or compact state).

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of recent perioperative nursing experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership or management experience in Surgical Services.

  • Strong knowledge of OR workflow, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement processes.

  • Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
