Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
The Tumor Registrar is responsible for supporting departmental operations while ensuring efficient and patient-focused service delivery. This role includes patient registration, insurance verification, maintaining accurate demographic and financial records, reception support, and administrative coordination within a healthcare setting.
Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
Answer, screen, and route incoming telephone calls; take and relay messages accurately.
Collect, review, and distribute referral documentation from affiliated providers.
Escort patients and visitors to designated areas as needed.
Maintain a culturally sensitive and inclusive environment.
Distribute departmental materials and ensure adequate supply levels.
Register patients by entering or updating demographic, financial, and emergency contact information in the system.
Verify patient insurance and demographic information through direct communication.
Prepare, assemble, and maintain patient charts in accordance with established policies.
Review discharged patient charts for completeness, including required physician signatures, diagnoses, and supporting documentation.
Ensure laboratory specimens are properly labeled and documented.
File and retrieve medical records as required.
Enter required data into computerized systems accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintain recall files and registration logs.
Obtain required patient consent forms and documentation.
Schedule clinic appointments and manage calendar coordination.
Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.
Provide front-desk coverage including greeting visitors and answering phones.
Respond to call systems and direct inquiries appropriately.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Report equipment or facility concerns to leadership.
Assist with patient transport (wheelchair or stretcher) when necessary.
Support interpretation services in accordance with established procedures.
6–9 months of healthcare experience preferred.
High school diploma or GED required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Basic computer proficiency and keyboarding ability.
Ability to prioritize tasks, problem-solve, and exercise sound judgment.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
