Job Title: Teacher Assistant / Special Education (SPED) Teacher Assistant
Location: Sterling,VA / Leesburg, VA / Ashburn, VA
Job Type: Contract (13–22 Weeks)
Schedule: Day Shift (Between 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Pay Rate: $20 – $24 per hour
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistants / Special Education (SPED) Teacher Assistants to support students and classroom teachers in school settings. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children and committed to helping students—especially those with special needs—achieve academic, behavioral, and social success.
Support the lead teacher with daily classroom instruction and activities
Provide one-on-one or small group academic support
Assist students with special needs in academic, social, and behavioral development
Help implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under teacher supervision
Monitor and document student progress; communicate observations to the teacher
Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
Assist students with mobility, transitions, and daily routines as required
Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of students at all times
High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s degree or higher preferred)
Prior experience working with children or in a school setting preferred
Experience supporting students with special needs highly preferred (for SPED roles)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patient, empathetic, and team-oriented mindset
Ability to follow direction and collaborate effectively with school staff
Must successfully pass background screening and meet school district compliance requirements
