Job Title: OR Tech II (Tier 2) – Surgical Technologist
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Position Type: Full-Time | 3x12 Hour Shifts | Rotating Weekends
General OR (Tech II) – Mixed Schedule (Rotating Weekends)
General OR (Tech II) – Nights (Rotating Weekends)
On-Call Requirement: Must live within 30 minutes of the facility
Salary Range: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour
(Maximum rate considered for candidates with 17+ years of experience)
Shift Differential:
$3.00/hour – Nights
$3.00/hour – Weekends
On-Call Pay: $3.00/hour
Sign-On Bonus: $15,000
Recruitment Fee: 20%
A Trauma Center in the Kansas City metro area is seeking a skilled OR Tech II (Tier 2) to join its high-volume surgical services team.
The OR Tech II is an experienced surgical technologist capable of confidently handling a wide range of surgical procedures. This role is ideal for a strong, independent scrub tech who is not yet in a formal leadership or specialty-advanced role but demonstrates advanced competency across multiple surgical specialties.
This full-service acute care hospital offers comprehensive specialty services including Level I Trauma, Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center, Orthopedics, Women’s Services, Cardiovascular Rehabilitation, and advanced surgical care. The hospital is part of a large regional healthcare network serving the Kansas City area.
Prepare and maintain the surgical suite with instruments, supplies, and advanced equipment.
Assist with patient transport, positioning, prepping, and draping while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Scrub in and function as first assist scrub in qualified specialty areas.
Anticipate surgeon and procedural needs during operations.
Handle specimens appropriately and maintain sterile field integrity.
Monitor surgical equipment and respond promptly to intraoperative needs.
Complete efficient room turnover while maintaining sterile technique.
Promote a collaborative, high-performing OR team environment.
Minimum 1+ year of OR Tech experience
Graduate of an accredited Certified Operating Room Technicians (CORT) program
Competent to perform as first scrub in at least three of the following four specialty areas:
Robotic
Total Joints
Neuro/Spine
Vascular Surgery
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire
Preferred:
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA
