Salary Range: $38.03 – $57.05 per hour (based on years of experience)
On-Call Rate: $5.00 per hour

A hospital in Houston is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric CVOR to join its growing pediatric cardiovascular surgery program.
The Pediatric CVOR RN delivers high-quality, patient-centered perioperative care to pediatric patients undergoing complex cardiovascular surgical procedures. This role requires strong clinical expertise in pediatric cardiac care and close collaboration with cardiovascular surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and interdisciplinary surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
The RN practices within established nursing frameworks and supports a culture of excellence, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
This 420+ bed specialty hospital is dedicated to the health of women and children and is part of a large regional healthcare network. The facility offers advanced neonatal and pediatric specialty services, including high-acuity cardiac and surgical programs.
4-bed Pediatric CVOR program
Specialized pediatric cardiac surgical services
Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance
Culture of mutual respect and collaboration among surgical staff
Ongoing investment in advanced surgical equipment and technology
Leadership rounding and open communication model
On-call required during select non-business hours
Evaluate pediatric patients prior to surgery.
Provide education to patients and families regarding surgical and perioperative care.
Prepare patients for surgery, including IV therapy, medications, and surgical site verification.
Participate in surgical site verification, time-outs, debriefings, and universal protocols.
Monitor patients intraoperatively and respond to emergencies as needed.
Apply the nursing process, critical thinking, and clinical judgment to deliver safe, evidence-based care.
Document patient assessments, changes in condition, and interventions thoroughly.
Collaborate as an integral member of the interdisciplinary surgical team.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas or Compact State
Associate Degree in Nursing required
BSN required (or enrollment within 6 months and completion within 24 months – Magnet requirement)
Minimum 1+ year of recent acute care experience (Pediatric experience required)
Must have experience caring for patients post–heart surgery
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 60 days of hire
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 60 days of hire
Preferred:
Children’s hospital experience
Experience in NICU, Mother-Baby, or PICU settings
