Position Overview

The Senior Technical Project Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of initiatives focused on transitioning enterprise reporting and data extract processes from a legacy mainframe environment to a modern cloud platform.

This role requires strong technical acumen, exceptional stakeholder communication skills, and experience managing large-scale data modernization efforts. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in enterprise reporting systems, data workflows, requirements gathering, and cloud migration strategies.

The Project Manager will be responsible for delivering multiple initiatives on time and within budget by applying structured project management methodologies, ensuring scope alignment, managing stakeholder expectations, and proactively mitigating risks.


Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of reporting and data extract migration initiatives

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, timelines, milestones, and dependencies

  • Manage scope, resources, risks, and budget to ensure successful execution

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between technical teams, business units, and leadership

  • Align project objectives with organizational priorities

  • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to executive stakeholders

Technical Collaboration

  • Conduct in-depth sessions with business stakeholders to gather and document reporting and data requirements

  • Partner with data engineers and solution architects to ensure accurate implementation

  • Oversee data workflow and modernization alignment

Agile Delivery

  • Apply Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) to manage sprints and deliverables

  • Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, and milestone tracking

Risk & Performance Management

  • Identify and mitigate project risks and dependencies

  • Monitor solution quality and performance in coordination with technical leads

Documentation & Governance

  • Maintain project documentation including plans, dashboards, executive status reports, and Gantt charts

  • Ensure disciplined documentation to support regulatory and compliance requirements


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • 6+ years of Technical Project Management experience, preferably in data or system modernization initiatives

  • 5+ years of experience working with mainframe systems, legacy reporting, and data extract processes

  • 6+ years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS)

  • 6+ years of experience gathering and documenting complex business and technical requirements

  • 8+ years managing cross-functional teams and large-scale modernization or mainframe decommissioning initiatives

  • 8+ years of experience with enterprise reporting systems or BI platforms

  • 6+ years creating project plans, dashboards, executive status reports, and Gantt charts

  • Strong technical fluency in data, reporting, and modernization concepts

  • Highly organized with the ability to adapt in fast-paced environments

  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences


Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, data migration, and transformation workflows

  • Experience supporting regulatory environments within the Oil, Gas, or Energy sectors
