Job Title: Referral Coordinator

Pay Rate: $18/hour (W2)

We are seeking an experienced Referral Coordinator to support a busy healthcare practice. This role is responsible for managing patient referrals, scheduling appointments, and ensuring compliance with insurance and medical necessity requirements. The ideal candidate will have prior referral coordination experience and strong knowledge of payer guidelines, particularly within specialty services such as neurology.
Schedule patient appointments accurately and in a timely manner.
Process and submit referrals and prior authorizations to insurance providers.
Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits coverage.
Ensure compliance with medical necessity requirements per payer and organizational guidelines.
Obtain and document required authorizations before services are rendered.
Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance representatives regarding referral status and approvals.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Mandatory: Prior referral coordination experience.
Strong understanding of insurance verification, prior authorizations, and medical necessity guidelines.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
