Job Title: High School Equivalency Instructor (Adult Education)

Job Type: Part-Time
Location: Pine Bluff, AR
Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays | 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Weekly Commitment: Approximately 4.5 hours/week (includes prep time)
Pay Rate: $40/hour (W2)

Position Overview

An established workforce education program is seeking a dedicated High School Equivalency Instructor to teach adult frontline employees at a local manufacturing facility. This role is part of a career advancement initiative designed to support adult learners in preparing for High School Equivalency (HSE) exams.

The instructor will deliver engaging, learner-centered instruction while developing curriculum materials and tracking student progress. Prep time has been structured at 30 minutes per instructional hour, bringing the total weekly commitment to approximately 4.5 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Teach High School Equivalency curriculum and exam preparation to adult learners

  • Deliver instruction in:

    • Reading

    • Math

    • Science

    • Social Studies

  • Develop, adapt, and align instructional materials with program objectives

  • Track student progress and provide individualized academic support

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and performance

  • Attend partner meetings, faculty meetings, and professional development sessions

  • Participate in recruitment events and program completion activities

  • Foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional strategies

  • Experience teaching core academic subjects (Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies)

  • Native-level fluency in written and spoken English

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field

  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in High School Equivalency or adult education programs

Preferred Skills

  • Strong classroom management and lesson-planning abilities

  • Ability to provide clear, concise instruction and structured guidance

  • Proficiency in a second language

  • Cross-cultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse populations

  • Strong technology integration skills in educational settings
