  • Annual Case Volume: ~4,000 cases

Position Summary

The Director of Surgical Services is responsible for the overall strategic, clinical, and operational leadership of the Surgical Services department. This includes oversight of staffing, quality initiatives, financial performance, patient experience, regulatory compliance, and service line growth.

The Director will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence while ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care across all perioperative services.

This role requires a strong, visible leader capable of driving efficiency, supporting physician relationships, and advancing surgical program growth.

Responsibilities

Quality & Clinical Excellence

  • Lead evidence-based practice initiatives to advance patient safety and surgical outcomes.

  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory, accreditation, and compliance standards.

  • Standardize clinical practice to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

  • Oversee equipment maintenance and surgical readiness.

  • Develop policies, procedures, and nursing standards aligned with best practices.

  • Monitor and improve surgical throughput, case flow, and perioperative performance metrics.

Service & Patient Experience

  • Champion initiatives to elevate patient satisfaction and surgical care experience.

  • Implement strategies to enhance patient-centered service delivery.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.

People & Culture

  • Foster a mission-driven culture that supports engagement and retention.

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and leadership development.

  • Build strong physician and interdisciplinary relationships.

  • Ensure the right talent is in place to support operational demands.

Growth & Strategy

  • Collaborate with executive leadership and surgeons to expand services.

  • Identify opportunities for robotics growth and service line development.

  • Support new program implementation and technology integration.

  • Position Surgical Services for long-term strategic success within a growing health system.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required

  • Master’s Degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years of applicable surgical services experience required

  • Leadership experience required

  • Will consider recent Surgical Services Managers

  • Will consider candidates from Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) settings

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $97,052 – $145,000 (based on experience)
Incentive Bonus: 17.5%
