A hospital in Houston is seeking an experienced Pediatric CICU Registered Nurse to join its expanding cardiovascular critical care program.
This nationally recognized facility specializes in women’s health, high-risk obstetrics, neonatal intensive care, and pediatric specialty services. The hospital operates a Level IV NICU and is part of a large, comprehensive healthcare network serving the greater Houston region.
The Pediatric CICU is a new and growing program with strong leadership support and a structured training pathway.
14-bed Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
Pediatric patients: 1 year of age and older
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 2:1
50–70 cardiac cases projected in first year
18-week structured training/orientation program
Training conducted at affiliated cardiac centers (travel, lodging, and expenses covered)
The Pediatric CICU RN provides direct patient care to critically ill pediatric patients with congenital heart disease and/or post-cardiac surgery needs.
This role requires clinical expertise in pediatric critical care, strong interdisciplinary collaboration, and the ability to deliver family-centered, holistic care in a high-acuity environment.
Provide direct patient care within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act
Care for critically ill pediatric cardiac and post-operative patients
Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify individualized care plans
Maintain accurate documentation and clinical records
Ensure a safe and therapeutic care environment
Participate in performance improvement and cardiac program initiatives
Integrate patient and family education into daily nursing practice
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Associate Degree in Nursing required
BSN required (6-month enrollment and 24-month completion required if not already obtained)
Minimum 1 year recent Pediatric ICU RN experience in an acute care hospital (Required)
Pediatric Cardiovascular and/or Pediatric Post-Op experience strongly preferred
Children’s hospital experience preferred
BLS (within 30 days of hire)
ACLS (within 6 months of hire)
PALS (within 6 months of hire)
CCRN (Preferred)
Phone screening with recruiter

Salary Range: $42.03 – $65.10 per hour (based on years of experience)
Sign-On Bonus: Case by case basis

Placement Fee: 20% of offered annualized salary
