Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist – Breast Center (CWR)
Location: North Bergen, NJ
Schedule: Monday – Friday (Days, Flexible)
Hours: 40 Hours per Week | 8 Hours per Day
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing specialized diagnostic breast ultrasound procedures using high-frequency sound waves to assist physicians in detecting anatomical abnormalities. This role requires strong technical expertise in breast imaging, patient-centered care, and collaboration within a radiology team.
Perform ultrasound procedures within established departmental timeframes
Conduct portable ultrasound exams as needed
Perform complex diagnostic ultrasound studies, including detection of masses, abscesses, and stones
Assist physicians with ultrasound-guided breast biopsies, aspirations, and interventional procedures
Prepare and position patients appropriately for each anatomical view
Evaluate image quality and ensure diagnostic standards are met
Archive and retrieve images using PACS
Document findings and maintain accurate patient records using EPIC and other systems
Perform routine equipment calibration, cleaning, and maintenance
Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection control protocols
Provide instruction and technical guidance to students and staff
Follow A.I.D.E.T. standards when greeting and interacting with patients
Meet physical requirements (lifting, pushing/pulling equipment, prolonged standing)
Adhere to organizational policies, safety standards, and professional competencies
Proficient in routine and complex breast ultrasound examinations
Skilled in scanning dense breast tissue, implants, masses, and varied patient presentations
Experienced with Doppler techniques to assess vascularity
Strong understanding of breast anatomy and pathology
Ability to optimize image quality (gain, depth, focus, TGC adjustments)
Knowledge of ultrasound artifacts and corrective techniques
Experience operating and troubleshooting ultrasound equipment
Proficiency with PACS for image archiving and retrieval
Experience assisting with ultrasound-guided breast interventions
Participation in quality control and assurance programs
Breast imaging experience is REQUIRED.
Graduate of an approved Ultrasound program
Minimum two years of Allied Health/College training
RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer)
CPR Certification
Knowledge of ultrasound equipment and system operations
Understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology
Familiarity with infection control and emergency procedures
Maintenance of continuing education (CEU) credits
Preferred:
1 year of clinical ultrasound experience
