Schedule: 5x8 Shifts – Morning, Afternoon, and Night Rotations


Compensation

  • Local Candidates: Up to $975 Gross Weekly

  • Travelers: Up to $1,125 Gross Weekly


Position Summary

A hospital is seeking an experienced Patient Care Associate (PCA) to support the Med/Surg unit. The PCA will assist nursing and medical staff in delivering high-quality patient care, performing clinical tasks, and ensuring smooth unit operations in a fast-paced hospital environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and record vital signs, height, weight, and patient observations

  • Obtain and document specimens for laboratory testing

  • Perform basic specimen screening (dipstick, hemoccult)

  • Prepare, label, and process specimens for laboratory pickup

  • Conduct vision, hearing, and simple urinalysis testing

  • Perform venipuncture and fingerstick blood collection

  • Operate EKG/ECG equipment to record cardiac tracings

  • Provide emergency first aid, including basic life support

  • Assist with wound care, dressing changes, and ear irrigation

  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for procedures

  • Assist providers during examinations with supplies and equipment

  • Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment

  • Collect and document patient health histories

  • Maintain and update patient charts and documentation

  • Communicate patient observations to clinical staff

  • Answer patient inquiries and coordinate referrals

  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment

  • Escort patients to departments as needed

  • Assist with appointment scheduling and data entry into hospital systems

  • Support patient and family education initiatives

  • Participate in orientation of new team members


Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience – Required

  • Strong clinical and documentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment


Education & Certifications

  • Phlebotomy Certification – Required

  • EKG/ECG Certification – Required

  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association) – Required
