Job Title: Dialysis Technician (CWR)

Location - Neptune, NJ

Position Summary

The Dialysis Technician assists in delivering safe and effective hemodialysis therapy to patients under the supervision of licensed clinical staff. This role includes patient education, vascular access management, dialysis machine operation, treatment monitoring, documentation, and maintaining a clean and safe treatment environment.


Schedule

  • 36 hours per week

  • 4 days per week

  • Day Shift

  • If scheduled:

    • MWF: 5:45 AM – 1:30 PM

    • TThS: 5:45 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Weekend Requirement: Every other Saturday

  • Holiday Requirement: Required if scheduled
    (Clinic closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day; may operate on surrounding Sundays as needed)

  • No on-call requirement

  • No float requirement


Required Experience

  • Minimum 1–2 years of prior Dialysis Technician experience

  • Familiarity with Fresenius T Machines

  • Dialysis access cannulation skills

  • Experience with ChairSide documentation system


Preferred Experience

  • Previous patient care experience in a hospital or related clinical setting


Required Education

  • CMS-approved state and/or national certification

OR

  • High School Diploma or GED with ability to meet CMS/state certification requirements within required timeline


Required Certifications & Licensure

  • CCHT (Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician) or

  • CHT (Certified Hemodialysis Technician)

  • BLS (AHA)

  • All applicable state licensure, education, and training requirements


Core Responsibilities

Patient Assessment & Monitoring

  • Obtain and record pre- and post-treatment vital signs

  • Perform and document pre- and post-dialysis evaluations

  • Monitor patient response during dialysis treatment

  • Evaluate intradialytic complications and intervene per physician order

  • Report significant changes in patient condition to supervisor

Vascular Access Management

  • Evaluate vascular access pre-treatment for patency

  • Perform cannulation and report any complications

  • Monitor arterial and venous pressures during treatment

  • Obtain hemostasis and apply appropriate dressings post-treatment

Dialysis Treatment Administration

  • Initiate dialysis treatment per prescribed orders (QB, QD, UF goals, Na modeling, UF modeling, treatment time)

  • Administer Heparin as delegated and permitted by state law

  • Program dialysis machines accurately

  • Ensure safety alarms are activated (including NVL 160)

  • Perform Pressure Holding Test (PHT) and machine safety checks

  • Initiate Solution Delivery System (SDS)

Documentation & Compliance

  • Accurately document treatment parameters and vital signs

  • Complete Hemodialysis Treatment Sheets

  • Document patient interventions and responses

  • Obtain prescribed laboratory specimens and prepare for collection

Patient Education

  • Provide education regarding:

    • Online Clearance Monitoring (OLC)

    • Adequacy Monitoring Program (AMP)

    • Urea Kinetic Modeling (UKM)

    • Vascular access care and disease process
